MySQL Conference Update
October 23rd saw the 4th Annual MySQL European Customer Conference 2008 to be held in London. The event went very well with attracting 265 attendees, approximately 50% year over year growth for this conference. Around 20% of the attendees came from outside the UK, primarily Nordics and Benelux but also some from Italy, Saudi Arabia and Turkey. Feedback on the content, venue and networking opportunities was very positive and we look forward to seeing an even larger crowd attend an even more exciting event next year.
Thanks goes to all the speakers including Richard Mason, Jay Huff, Robin Schumacher, Ivan Zoratti, Kai Voigt, Anders Karlsson & Jan Kneschke as well as Miriam Tuerk from MySQL Partner and Conference Sponsor Infobright.
We also had an impressive presentation from Betfair/Tradefair describing how and why an Oracle user are deploying MySQL. To see such an intensive Oracle user endorsing MySQL really generated a lot of interest with the audience.
And as if it was not enough, we also arranged a MySQL community meetup in a pub nearby where special guest, MySQL founder David Axmark discussed a range of topics about MySQL past and present.
So as far as we can tell, it was a successful day. We'd value your feedback though, if you attended the conference and have constructive feedback about the day and how we could improve it then please drop a note to me, mbaker@mysql.com and in return I'll send you a little something for your efforts. I'm not sure what that little something will be, but trust me, it will be good.
